This website has been set up to showcase cover bands in the London area, and to some extent the venues that host them.

The intention is to list those bands playing mainstream rock/pop music along with details of where they are playing and when. Although there are plenty of roads that this thing can go down, in reality most cover bands play a core list of tried and tested favourites blended in with a few renegades reflecting their own tastes. In that respect cover bands can be seen as all being similar, and therefore difficult to critique. However there are differences. The main focus is likely to be videos and incriminating photographs as the most effective means of demonstrating a bands appeal, which they all do have. There are also some smart arse comments but it's all good clean fun and done in the best possible taste.

The site is an amateur project forged out of a personal interest, which is why the graphics and presentation are a bit naf. The photography also is atrocious, although now and again you get lucky.  At the outset the number of bands and venues covered is small, namely those acts associated with O'Neill's in Wardour Street and The Porterhouse in Covent Garden. With time and contributions it should be possible to expand the range and the options.

The website has an email address, being info@cover-band-review.com. Any bands or venues that may want to provide details of public gigs or information of interest are welcome to do so. Likewise, if any party would prefer not to be featured or objects to any content, please advise via the email address listed below.

The website is not looking to be a critic. It is looking to put a spotlight on a form of entertainment where for little if any cost you can tap into a vibe that you won't get from a  CD player or a DJ.
